R2D2 Cake for Star Wars Birthday Party

This was fun and challenging. It is 3- 8"x 3" round cakes topped with a "soccer ball" cake and chocolate buttercream in between. There are two wooden dowels holding it together (because it was VERY heavy). The legs are made out of carved chunks of rice crispy treats and held on with lollipop sticks. It isn't as nice as some of the fondant Artoos that I've seen on the Internet, but I have a slight aversion to fondant...sure it looks beautiful, but it tastes terrible and you'd either have to CHEW the frosting or PEEL it off to eat the cake...pretty gross if you ask me...so I was determined to do this in buttercream!
( while making this I got plenty of input from my family- since they're all "experts" telling me to do this and fix that and how inaccurate some of it is, etc...:))

Another Soccer Cake

Made this one for my other daughter's team. Same deal- 4 boxes of cake mix, a dozen eggs, etc. I guess I put the soccer ball too close to edge because it looks to be sagging a little.

Soccer Cake

Made this one for my daughter's soccer team. It is a sheet cake with a soccer ball cake placed on top. All in all, it took 4 boxes of cake mix, one box of Wilton's whipped icing, one batch of butter cream icing, and one can of chocolate store bought frosting. I used the chocolate for all the black portions because you'd have to use a lot of black coloring if you started out with white butter cream instead. Store bought frosting is not easy to decorate with though; it is very sticky and thin but can be stiffened up a little with the addition of some cornstarch.

Big Halloween Cookies

Made these for a Halloween birthday party. The spider is made out of a Ferrero Rocher and a Milk Dud. It reads: Happy Boo-rthday Summer! The cat is a smear of melted chocolate that I thought would go well with the peanut butter cookie.

Happy Camper

Made this for one of Emily's Brownie Troop leaders. I now play bunco with her too. The fire is made out of pretzel sticks and the grass is coconut, there are also chocolate rocks. The tent is fondant over a bowl cake.

Boot Camp Graduation Cake

Made this one for my friend's son. Just found the image online and freehanded it.

Wedding Cupcakes

I made these for a friend at work. She is having her "real" reception back home in Michigan, but wanted these for the small banquet directly following her wedding here in San Diego.
